I am horrified and incensed! My 11-year-old just told me that her ustazah had said that whatever she and her friends touched would be haram. All because she saw them chatting with boys! And mind you, these were all 11-12 year olds who have known each other since they were 7 years old. Seems she had told them girls must never talk and mix with boys. Now what century did she just crawl out from? Given the precocious nature of our very intelligent 11-year-olds, they sniggered that ustazah did not practise what she preached when she got pregnant year after year! Unless you're talking about the immaculate conception (and heaven help us we cannot talk about that, we're Muslims!), naughty ustazah must like her little romps in the haystack. But then again she'd put it down to being the dutiful little wifey who cannot say no. I's not into teacher-bashing. God knows I have many fond memories of the many teachers who I'll eternally be indebted to. There're also a few of my childrens' teachers who we respect for their dedication, wisdom and sincerity. But the types like the obviously misguided ustazah and her very damaging remarks deserve a swift transfer to the north pole. Then again, maybe there are already a few there blowing off their hot air... The said ustazah has my daughter to thank for my not marching to school to confront her for her very un-Islamic self-proclaimed-God remarks. "You'll just be wasting your time lah ma" she said. "Besides you said to turn a deaf ear to stupid people and their stupid remarks." Common sense from a child. I'm still incensed!

Remember the ustaz who used to wait at the hostel gates trying to catch students wearing sleeveless shirts? and the one who barged into the girls's room justto check on the posters on their wall? all in the name of duty, mydear fabmama!

Salam Fabmama,

Wow, today is my lucky day of what! I stumbled into Fatimah Abu Bakar’s blog, I gate-crashed and I found my 2 favourite journalists Zaharah Othman and Nuraina Samad chit chatting.

Yes Kak Fati, I have read Kak Teh and Kak Ena’s, can’t wait to read yours.

We want Kak Fati! We want Kak Fati!

Salam to kak FAB.
Welcome the blogworld.
Been following you(not stalking) since you became "Maria" in the ?80's( with Allahyarham Mustapha).
Then watched movies yg you jadi acting coach( mostly film Sumi). Then tgk you jadi Umi to the anak2 AF.Then tengok anak2 you berlakon. Finally dapat tgk you semula in Cinta.
And now yu blog.Maybe boleh cerita yg menarik not only about your friendship with kakteh and nuraina but pengalaman dunia seni.

That is the problem.Cara mereka ini yang membuat orang bersikap sinis terhadap agama dan hilang hormat ke atas mereka.I've seen and spoken to a few and depa tak perasan yang cara depa tu is actually driving people away from them.

Fabulous Mama, I was in Nuraina's blog when I decided to hop around. In a single bound, I landed in your blog.

I am appalled with what the ustazah told your daughter and her friends but your daughter is right. "Turn a deaf ear to stupid people and their stupid remarks." She learned well from her Fabulous Mama! Your name alone speaks volumes.

When i was in a boarding school, i opted not to do ugama for my SPM, I took Lukisan instead. Merely bacause I know I can score in Lukisan. After a while, the ustazah totally ignores me in class, even during the Ugama period. It didnt occur to her that I still would like to follow the lessons even if I am not sitting for the exam papers. After being ignored and treated like I do not exist (and there I was, seated right under her nose!!!) I did the rightful thing, ie vanishing to the library every Ugama period.!!!
As it turns out, (and which I only found out years later...... ) it was Mom who did her thing by going up to the Ustazah to tell her off... for telling me off for not wearing the tudung...:) There were like only 4 of us from the whole Fifth Formers who were the KEPALA HITAM.... I think as far as the Ustazah was concern, we are all going to hell.
Anyway.. I scored Lukisan
